The IAQ Industry’s First Hybrid Live/Online Event

The Best Little Industry Conference is about to become a bit more prominent!

The Maine Indoor Air Quality Council (MIAQC) has partnered with IAQnet LLC (the parent company of Healthy Indoors Magazine and IAQschool.online), to bring their annual regional conference to a global audience. That event, formally billed as the “MIAQC Northeast IAQ & Energy Conference,” will have a new name: IAQ & ENERGY 2018, and a potentially lot bigger audience.

As was the case for the past several years, the conference will again be held over two-days in historic Portland, ME, at the Holiday Inn by the Bay Conference Center. But, unlike its past incarnations (or any other previous dedicated events for the indoor environmental industry), IAQ & Energy 2018 will also be available as a live-streamed event, giving it a national/global reach.

MIACQ’s annual conference will become the inaugural event for Healthy Indoors LIVE Conference Series, which will debut from IAQ & Energy 2018 on May 1st and 2nd next year. According to MCIAQ’s Executive Director, Christy Crocker, “The goal with this new hybrid live/online format is to keep the conference’s outstanding content and unique regional charm, while bringing the event to a larger audience.” Next year’s show features a stellar lineup of industry experts, and a diverse array of topics relating to indoor environments, building science, sustainability and more, positioning it to be the premiere indoor environmental event of 2018.

Capturing the essence of a live conference for an online audience is no small task. The IAQnet team has been putting the necessary building blocks in place to do just that, however, with their integrated video content in the digital edition of Healthy Indoors Magazine, and more recently with their IAQschool.online’s live distance learning video platform. “We’re not looking to put our online attendees into a Sim City virtual reality like some previous online conference attempts in related industries have done in the past,” affirmed IAQnet’s CEO, Bob Krell. “We want our Healthy Indoors LIVE Conference Series to have the live feel of the day-long coverage you would see from something like an Olympics broadcast.” Online attendees will be able to interact with presenters and other attendees via social media channels, as well.

In addition to the Maine IAQ Council’s long-standing tradition of a great program for its attendees, IAQ & Energy 2018 will be video recording all the presentations for pay per view availability after the event. Those who attend the conference in person in Portland will also receive free access to these recordings, included with their registration fee.

The expo hall in Portland will have dozens of booths featuring products and services of interest, and a Virtual Expo will run both during and after the conference on the online attendee portal, giving vendors the opportunity to have a “booth” there to reach the online audience, as well. These Virtual Expo booths can even include product videos, and live text chat boxes or Skype-like interfaces for live interaction between visitors and company representatives. Vendors can also purchase video ad spots on the live-stream broadcast and subsequent pay per views.
